Key Information
The aim of Water Act is promote, organise and control water resource and use of waters, so that is socially, economically and ecologically sustainable and to prevent damages caused by water and use of water resources and to improve water resources and environment of water. Government Decree on Urban Waste Water Treatment sets minimum standards both for wastewater treatment, and for the design, construction, use and maintenance of treatment facilities. Finland's Nitrates Decree (931/2000) is based on the EU Nitrates Directive, and controls the use of nitrate fertilisers in all farms across the country. Water Services Act (119/2001) is to ensure water services which provide a sufficient amount of impeccable household water with respect to health and otherwise as well as appropriate sewerage in terms of the protection of health and the environment.
