Regulation on air protection

Key Information

This regulation implements Directive 2001/81/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of October 23, 2001 on national emission ceilings for certain atmospheric pollutants. It aims to limit emissions of acidifying pollutants and eutrophic and ozone precursors in order to improve the protection of the environment and human health against risks of adverse effects from acidication, eutrophication of the soil and ground-level ozone. The law aims to move closer to the long-term objective of not exceeding critical levels and loads and to effectively protect all individuals against known risks to health due to pollution of air by setting emission ceilings.
