Factsheet: ECDBC

Key Information
The Colombian Strategy for Low Carbon Development (ECDBC) is a program of development planning in the short, medium and long term, seeking to decouple the growth of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) for national economic growth. This is done through the design and implementation of sectoral mitigation measures that maximize the carbon-efficiency of economic activity and, in turn, contribute to national economic and social development. Because of this, the ECDBC work team is composed by representatives of the industrial, energy, mining, transport, housing, waste and agriculture. The objectives of the ECDBC are (i) Identify actions to prevent the rapid growth of GHG emissions in key economic sectors, (ii) develop mitigation action plans for each sector, and (iii) develop the tools for the implementation of the plans, including monitoring and reporting systems.
