KENYA (JAMHURI YA KENYA)
Description:
Kenya is selected as a pilot country for developing Action Agenda & Investment Prospectus supported by SE4ALL Hub. The New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Agency and Government of Kenya are partnering with BizClim and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to develop Kenya’s SE4ALL Action Agenda and Investment Prospectus. SE4All stands for Sustainable Energy for All. It is a global initiative launched by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon in September 2011, focusing on three goals: (1) Ensuring universal access to modern energy services; (2) Doubling the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency; and (3) Doubling the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix by 2030. The NEPAD Agency is the founder of the Africa SE4ALL Coordination Hub and has been requested by the Conference of Energy Ministers for Africa (CEMA) to facilitate the implementation of SE4All in Africa. BizClim is a programme of the ACP Secretariat funded by the European Union through the 10th European Development Fund. BizClim aims at fostering a business-enabling environment in ACP countries and regions by improving legislation, institutional frameworks and financial measures relating to the enabling environment of the private sector. Kenya is one of the first countries in Africa to produce its own investment prospectus to accelerate the implementation of SE4ALL. Its National Agenda of Action and Investment Prospectus are being drafted to identify energy priority projects in the country that will help to achieve the SE4All targets.
