The Forestry Act aims to protect forests, to prevent exsisting forest surface to take off. In short, the Forestry Act says that forest must remain forest. Forest that is cut down, shoult be replanted. If that is not in the same place, than elsewhere (compensation). In most provinces overcompensation is prescribed. When a thinning occurs as a nursing measure of the remaining forest resources, it does not fall under the forest law.
